Factors impacting the transition of OIC Countries | Dr. Walid Hejazi | Rotman School of Management

The fifty-seven member countries that form the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) account for twenty-three percent of the world's population, yet less than eleven percent of the world's total GDP. Why?

With the projected rise in the Muslim population, OIC member countries must do more to ensure accompanying GDP per capita growth. As a first step towards identifying growth opportunities for OIC member countries, three MBA students; Abhishek Chaudhary, Omer Saleem, Ash Zare, under the supervision of Prof. Hejazi at the Rotman School of Management, created an extensive central database with 170 world economic indicators amongst 230 countries spanning a period of 38 years, in order to benchmark OICs against other regions of the world and find reasons behind the lag.

This webinar will introduce you to the database and take you through some of the project's research findings which outline opportunities within social, institutional and financial arenas.
