Your Path to Powerful Presentations | Linda Sage | Training & Development Specialist | SGC

This document is the soft copy of the presentation by Linda Sage. Do you turn to jelly at the mere thought of speaking in public, or presenting in front of your management, peers or teams? You are not alone, Glossophobia is the top fear of 82% of Americans, and that is speaking in their own language. Speaking in public in your own language is scary enough, doing it in an additional language is equivalent to being a super hero.

There is no doubt that in the fast world of communication today, if you cannot get yourself, your ideas or your product across in a coherent, impactful, effective way; then you are not at the height of your professional ladder. The number one skill required across the board is effective communication, if it is done well, it can make a huge difference to the bottom line profits of any business and certainly to any professional ambitions you have.

Why is something you do on a daily basis, so scary? Whether you are talking to one person, 50, 1,000 or 50,000 your base fear as a human is rejection, if you are only talking to one person, there is only one chance of rejection; that number rises with the number of your audience. There are millions of effective speakers, so there must be a way; of course like every other skill you have learnt, there are ways and means to making yourself and your presentations memorable for all the right reasons.

What you learn:

You will be shown the skills to be able to:

  • Designing is messy - Work through it.
  • Visual aids - Are an extra.
  • Be present, not perfect.
  • Be yourself.
  • Practice, practice, practice.
